A few weeks ago, fellow photographer friend, Nicole Raine, came down to Los Angeles from Seattle to attend a photography conference. She stayed with me for the weekend and we decided to go out to Venice Beach to photograph each other. To have fun. To experiment. To let loose. As much as I don’t completely enjoy being in front of the camera lens, I find it very useful so I can empathize with my clients better. It was a FUN shoot… thanks to the wonderful, Nicole Raine and the excitement of Venice Beach.
Here are some of our favorite shots from each other’s sessions. The turquoise backdrop (ie. gritty wall a block from Venice Beach) was PERFECT as it’s Nicole Raine’s ‘happy color!’ The images I shot of her are posted first (woah — her eyes rock!). As you scroll down, you will see the photos that she took of me. To see her thoughtful insight on our shoot, click to her blog HERE.

A team of us ventured the artistic, cool, eclectic, gritty alley ways of Venice Beach to capture the essence and beauty of Lacee. We rocked it! A big thanks to Makeup/Hair artist, Krystal Melton and to my assistant, Amanda Rynda.
Here are just a few of the top selects from our session.
Yesterday evening, Sean & Andrea came to my home for a premier viewing party to see all their wedding photos using my projector and 12 foot wall! It was so special to be in the same room with them while they viewed their wedding photos for the first time. We relived the day together over wine & cheese and their good friend Ashley joined in the fun. Check out their online slideshow to music —> www.nicolegoddard.com/andrea_sean
THE WEDDING DAY RECAP ::: Sean & Andrea wed at the exquisite Spanish Colonial style chapel called San Carlos Cathedral on a sunny, Autumn day in Monterey, CA. They were joined by their close friends and family as they happily exchanged their vows during their Catholic Ceremony. Andrea looked gorgeous. I loved the way she altered her dress to show off her pretty purple heels and the cap sleeves were so great.
Their ceremony was followed by an outdoor cocktail hour surrounded by blue skies, fountains, signature margarita martinis, delish hors d’oeuvres, live music, picturesque hills and the award-winning, Bernardus Lodge Winery in Carmel Valley. I was able to take Sean & Andrea into the vineyards for some sweet shots during this time! The light was perfect. The backdrop was dreamy. And, the connection to each other was inspirational.
After the guests danced the night away to the talented band, Steve Ezzo & The Monterey Bay All Stars, they were greeted by Sean’s favorite food, a cereal bar. What a fun & unique way to wrap up a fantastic wedding celebration. It was a hit among the guests, and of course by Sean himself!
A special thanks to their fabulous wedding coordinator, Christy Daly, with Allure Consulting and to my wonderful 2nd photographer/assistant, Kara Snider! Please check out all of the wonderful vendors who all helped make Sean & Andrea’s wedding a huge success.

I met Jenn & Ben in San Francisco, CA over a cup of tea to talk about their wedding. Two hours later, we felt as if we’ve known each other for years! 8 months later, I am in Italy capturing their aahh-mazing, story-book, destination wedding. They truly made my dream come true — to shoot a wedding at a CASTLE and in ITALY! I mean, woah — doesn’t get much better then this. Their families graciously welcomed me as one of their own. I even went on a day of wine tasting in the hills of Tuscany with them and they invited me to their fun rehearsal dinner as a guest!
Jenn & Ben happily said their I-do’s on October 10, 2010 — this day, I will never forget (for that matter, my entire Italy trip). I was with them for 12 some hours capturing every fleeting moment. Beverly Hills – based Cinematographer, Ari Perilstein with Custom Made Production, and I ran around Florence prior to their ceremony getting shots of Jenn & Ben that I have always dreamed of. It was an exciting spectacle. I overheard plenty of English speaking folks thinking it was for a movie or big commercial shoot. We all felt famous! Ari and I had an entourage of friends/guests helping us with our gear. It was awesome.
And, then there’s Castillo Di Vincigliata, (aka Villa Vorno) a 1000AD- dated castle where 45 of their closest friends & family gathered to watch them wed in a beautiful garden with a fountain, blue skies, and ear-to-ear smiles, all officiated by the charming Benjamin Singleton with Italy weddings. The ceremony was extremely heartfelt. I have to admit, my eyes got teary eyed!
I’ll stop my babbling, so you can enjoy Jenn & Ben’s highlights. Please make sure to check out their webgallery I created for them –> www.nicolegoddard.com/ben_jennifer.
But, before I stop, I would like to extend a very warm thank you to my new friends, Jenn & Ben; their incredible, supportive family; all their guests who flew across the world to be with us; the incredibly talelented, Ari Perilstein, who helped with artistic direction and who created a stunning short film (<— make sure to click and watch!); Benjamin Singelton who not only coordinated the entire wedding, but also beautifully officiated the ceremony; and finally, thank you to my two sweet friends who traveled with me for 2 weeks and who helped me during the wedding, Carrie Valatka & Kenda Todaro. I feel so fortunate to have given the opportunity to capture unforgettable Italy-based wedding. Get ready Italy, I’ll be back in August 2011 to shoot yet another dreamy wedding at Hotel Villa Cipressi in Lake Como.
So, without further adieu, please sit back, drink glass of Italian Chianti (or something tasty of your choice) & enjoy. Thanks!
I couldn’t resist pulling a few photos from my latest international wedding in Florence, Italy. Photographing Jenn & Ben’s wedding at Villa Vorno (Castle dated approx. 1000 AD) was seriously a dream come true for me. Words can’t express how excited I am to showcase the rest of their wedding in a few weeks.
So…, please stay tuned for the full storybook love story!
Max turned ONE and I feel honored to have captured all the emotions and details of this fabulous “Under the Sea” themed birthday party! It’s been an amazing 1 year journey for Max and for his parents, Rebecca & Zack. I was there for his newborn photo session and have captured many other stages in his 1 year of life with the “Year in a Life of a Baby” series I offer.
Rebecca & Zack, really out did themselves with the handcrafted decorations and food. From the blue Octopus cake, shark-shaped cupcakes, hand-made shark photobooth, to fun water toys, bubbles, popular sandbox, and their close friends and family, it was a very fun event!
Happy Birthday, Max!
August 14th, 2010 was an awesome day. Liz & Casey got married! They chose a beautiful venue on Whidbey Island in Washington State called Captain Whidbey Inn. They have a love for the water, boats and fishing, so they chose to have a nautical theme.
Their first glance was at Fort Casey Lighthouse. We had sunshine and blue skies all around and their excitement for seeing each other was contagious.
The ceremony was unique and super cool. Casey, the groom, and his boys, left out on a ‘pirate’ boat an hour prior the ceremony. Right before the ceremony began, the guys sailed in and the guests were standing in anticipation. Tiger Budbill, the rockin’ DJ, cued the Pirates of Carribean theme song, ““Yo Ho, Yo HO! A pirates life for me.” It was perfect! Liz looked ravishing as she walked down the isle and the entire ceremony was so heartfelt. They had their guests fill out notes of wisdom to put in a large glass jar so Casey and Liz can read at a later time. Think, “Message in a Bottle!” So creative.
A special thanks to my awesome photography assistant, Alex Grümmer!
Overall, I had a fabulous time capturing Liz & Casey’s wedding! Congrats you two. I wish you a lifetime of love, friendship and happiness.

On August 8, 2010, New York couple, Jennifer & Jon, were happily married at The Athanaeum at Cal Tech in Pasadena, CA. It truly was a perfect day. The weather was ideal. The details were aligned just right. The love between this couple was pure & authentic. I had a fantastic time capturing every fleeting moment, from the Ketubah signing, the exciting hora, to Jon romantically singing a heartfelt and talented, Bright Eyes rendition of “First Day of My Life” for his stunning, new bride. Jon’s surprise to Jennifer definitely gave me happy chills.
The Cowling Band was unreal. They did old and modern day cover songs like I’ve never heard before. Everyone danced the night away thanks to the band’s talent and fun energy!
A huge thank you to my good friend and fellow photographer, Leslie Talley for assisting and 2nd shooting. And, if it weren’t for the fantastic Kelly Demaray with Demaray Events the day would not have gone nearly as smooth. Kelly is a wedding coordinator rockstar!
Check out the slideshow I created by clicking –> www.nicolegoddard.com/jennifer_jon. I used one of my most favorite songs, “Forever” by Ben Harper to showcase their wedding love story. This just happens to be their SONG!

If it weren’t for the dating website, eHarmony, I would have never met Rob. Rob would have never met Juliana. And, Juliana would have never called me last November to photograph her 2010 August wedding. That’s right… I was a member on Eharmony and met Rob. We became friends, stayed in touch on Facebook and a few months later he was engaged to the lovely, Juliana! This may be the most unique story on how a couple found me. We are planning on submitting our story and these wedding photos to Eharmony soon. So, please stay tuned.
Rob & Juliana’s wedding was straight out of a love-story book. Their closest friends and family surrounded them as they said their confident “I-DOs.” They celebrated & danced with the 16 piece band called BIG BAND THEORY (Rob’s band) while overlooking the beaches and coastline of picturesque Laguna Beach at the venue, Laguna Village. I had a great time capturing every moment! Click HERE to see their music web-show I created for them and click HERE to check out their Manhattan Beach engagement session.

The title to this blog entry (almost) says it all. A motorcycle + 2 guitars + beer = FUN engagement session!
Kelly, Andrew and I had such a fantastic day! We started the day by hitting up West Seattle (Alki Beach) for the view of Seattle skyline. We used Andrew’s bad-ass motorcycle as a prop and it was perfect. Then we went back to their adorable 1920’s yellow home for an outfit change. I saw soo many photoshoot opps in their house, so I fully took advantage.
Both Kelly & Andrew are talented musicians- they sang a few songs, jammed on their guitars (loved Kelly’s pink guitar). My favorite was their duet of 4 Non Blondes, “What’s Going On.” I cheerfully (and terribly out of key) sang along while capturing them in action. After our jam session, we ventured down to Pike Place Market to continue our photo session in Post Alley, then ended up at the Pike Place Brewery for fish & chips and cold, tasty beer.
What I am most excited about, is next August 2011. I will be photographing their wedding in ITALY in Lake Como (where they fell in love!) at the charming Hotel Villa Cipressi. This will be my 2nd Italy wedding to date and I’m ecstatic!
Congrats Andrew & Kelly for planning your destination, dream-come-true wedding.
